New appointments made at the AGM May 2015

Tony Waite

Tony Waite (Chepstow 60C) has been appointed Trustee & Webmaster. He is a well known committee member of BOBA and has sound knowledge of website technicalities. This follows the retirement of a founding Trustee & Webmaster Max Warwick (Arborfield 49B) at this years AGM,

Robert Cross (Harrogate)was also appointed a Trustee. Mike Davies (60B Arborfield) retired from the post of Hon.Treasurer but remains a Trustee. He was the founding Treasurer and has had the important job of supervising the collection of all the donations for building the Memorial. The Chairman thanked him on behalf of the Trustees, for the splendid work he has contributed towards the success of the project. Ian Rothwell (Harrogate) has been appointed the new Hon Treasurer.

Annual May Weekend events this year were a great success

The AGM at the NMA on the 9th May went smoothly. Both Patrons were in attendance. A full report will follow shortly.

The Evening Dinner held at the Menzies Hotel Mickleover was well attended and included the presentation of Appreciation plaques to each of the two retiring Trustees, Gordon Bonner and Max Warwick, by Chairman of Trustees Dave Chapman (Chepstow) and Keith Rackham (Stonemason).

2015-AANMw MW plaque cut

The Second Annual ARMY APPRENTICE NATIONAL MEMORIAL Drum-head Service was held on Sunday 10th May 2015, at the Army Apprentice National Memorial at The NMA, Alrewas, Staffs. The Rev Canon Bev John officiated and Major General John Stokoe CB CBE (Joint Paton) gave the address. This included Pipers & Drum playing the March on, March off and the Army Apprentice Lament by Alex Burt - all ex apprentices. The programme, planning & routines for the service were devised by Trustee Mo Hope (Arborfield 59B). The Burton Salvation Army Band provided the music for the hymns and Bugler Bobby Crick sounded the Last Post & Reveille. Tony Church's (TeeCee) Poem 'On reflection for the 2015 Service' can be read in 'The Project' menu - tab heading 'TeeCees Poems'.


On Saturday the 18th July 2015 - The Arborfield Old Boys' Association Annual Parade, Review and Drumhead Service was held at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, Staffs.

It commenced with a parade and review at 11.00 hrs on the main walkway, followed by a Drumhead Service at 12.00 hrs at the Army Apprentice National Memorial. More photos on AOBA page
